Who’s Who

Some personal bloggers have a Cast of Characters page, explaining their nicknames for people in their lives who they write about.  I’ve mostly tended to refer to people in pretty self-explanatory terms on my blog (Mom, Dad, Sister, Boss, Mrs. Boss, etc.), but there are a few names I can list here in case anyone wonders who they are:

  • Tamp / Tampalama: That’s me, aka LifeIsChange.  I began using the name “Tampalama” in 2008, to comment on some blogs I read and as a username for a forum I belong to.  The “Tampa” part is because I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, and the “lama” part just sort of rolls off the tongue after the “Tampa” part.  (Occasionally, you may have seen Kerro call me “Tramp” in comments on some of my earlier posts.  That’s a humorous acknowledgement of a typo I made once.)
  • SS: Why, that is my Someone Special, of course!  ♥  After a few cryptic hints before I was ready to announce our relationship, I first began to introduce her here.  I believe this was the first hint.  And the second.  The last paragraph of this post was a little more than a hint, though not detailed yet at that point. (Note: I married SS, so she is now known as Wife in posts after October of 2014.)
  • Emily: My beloved cat who called me Mama and with whom I shared a mental, emotional, and often psychic connection. She passed away in June of 2016 at the age of 17 1/2.
  • Mr. Man Cat (sometimes called MMC): SS’s cat, and Emily’s brother who she met when we moved to New Jersey in 2011. Mr. Man Cat passed away on Mother’s Day 2011 and we miss him very much.
  • Bob: Our big, black and white cat. Bob belonged to my Father-In-Law, who passed away in 2013, and we adopted him. Bob survived breast cancer (apparently rare among male cats) in 2015. As of October 2016, there is evidence that his cancer is back. So far, he appears to still be feeling well. His appetite is good and he is his usual, loving self.
  • Squeaker: Our tuxedo cat. Squeaker belonged to my Father-In-Law, who passed away in 2013, and we adopted her. Sadly, she passed away in January of 2016 with cancer. She and Wife had formed a connection much like Emily’s and mine.
  • Clarise: One of our two Russian Blue kittens that came to us at five months old in September of 2016
  • Rudolph: The other of our two Russian Blue kittens that came to us at five months old in September of 2016
  • T: My therapist when I lived in Florida (Many of my earlier posts were about my experience in therapy)
  • RB: A friend of mine.  There was someone who once knew both of us who said it seemed like we shared a brain because we think so much alike at times, finish each other’s sentences, etc.  So we decided we must each own half of one brain.  “RB” stands for “Right Brain” because she is left handed.  I’m right handed, so I’m “LB”, although I did recently take a test on Facebook that said I was right-brain dominant, and I actually am, and technically I’m ambidextrous, but I’m getting off-topic . . .
  • Wife: See “SS”

I will add to this list as other non-obvious names come up.
