Please help me win a new bed!

I debated about posting about this on my blog, since I try to keep my real name separate from my blogging, but I do blog about health and issues that are directly affected by quality of sleep, like ADD/ADHD and Fibromyalgia, and this relates to all of that.

SS found an essay contest here to try to win a Tempur-Pedic bed.  We have a Number Bed, which is nice in that it enables each side of the bed to be set to a custom firmness level, but I suspect it isn’t geared for heavier people so much.  The heavier you are, the less air there is in the mattress in order to reach the same firmness level as a lighter person.  This causes a problem when sitting on the bed and makes it harder to roll over and to get out of bed.  I’ve been waking up with worse morning backaches since the move and I can’t help but wonder if it’s because of the bed.

Emily, my writing buddy – this picture is from November of 2004, during that year’s NaNoWriMo.

Well, did you know that Emily can write?  She began by observing while I wrote, and then she learned how to use the keyboard, and, well, it just snowballed from there.

Once she heard about the essay contest, she jumped right in to help her mom and wrote her entry under my name.  She really wants her mom to get better sleep, so I’ll feel better more of the time, and also so that I’ll stop tossing and turning so much during the night, waking her up and making her afraid that I’ll roll over onto her.

If I win, I will post here about the bed and how it affects my quality of sleep, so that my readers can benefit and anyone who is looking into a new bed will have a better idea about the Tempur-Pedic bed.

So, I’m not one who is really comfortable asking for help, but this is where I reach out to my readers and fellow bloggers and ask you to please vote for me! (Thank you in advance.)

Mom is sleepy, and so am I

Emily thanks you also.

I don’t know yet if voting is allowed every day or not, but I will post an update here tomorrow to let everyone know.

If any of you uses Facebook or Twitter or email, please feel free to share this with your friends.

This reminds me of the commercial, “What would you do-oo-oo for a Klondike Bar?”, and so I guess what I will do-oo-oo for a Tempu-Pedic bed is beg everyone who knows me, in real life and in the Blogsphere, to vote for me.

Ok, ending my shameless plea now.  Thanks for your time.

Regular blogging to resume as soon as I catch up on work . . .

    I voted – Good luck! 🙂

Update . . . looking at the comments on the blog post about the contest, I see that each person is allowed to vote once during the contest, and that only one vote per computer is allowed, which means that voting from multiple browsers wouldn’t count.

Thanks again to everyone who has voted or is going to vote! 🙂

I feel so stupid . . . I re-read the email I received from the blogger running the contest and she says in the email that each person can vote only once . . . I somehow missed that part in my excitement. I hope I haven’t offended anyone.

    I voted…hope you win!

Well, the results have been announced, and I didn’t win. The winner blew the rest of us out of the water, in fact. So, congratulations to Debra K, and much thanks to everyone who voted for my essay!

Mean time, SS found another contest to win the same Tempur-Pedic bed, so we’re going to enter it! More on that soon . . .

  5. Comment by Cari:

As someone with fibromyalgia, among other things, & can only sleep comfortably in a waterbed (try finding decent sheets for those these days… pffft…), I’m so sorry I didn’t know about this contest you entered sooner or I would’ve definitely voted for your… ahem… Emily’s essay. Hi, Emily! It’s so nice that you help your Mommy like that! You critterkidz are the best! 🙂

Keep us all posted for the new contest you (or Emily) are entering so I can vote for you (even if it means sending a reminder or something since the fibro-fog & A.D.D. that like to hang out with fibro/cfs make me forgetful…). I’ve heard great things from other fibro patients about the Tempur-Pedic so I hope you win this next one!
